Olympus arrives this year with its new model, the Olympus D-490 Zoom which is a great camera and setting new standards in the market! It was announced in North America on the 01/8/00. The Olympus D-490 Zoom will be sold at a retail price of 500in the US, a very interesting deal. This nice camera measures 127 x 67 x 54 mm while weights 320 g. The D-490 Zoom offers a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200. It can also be set at a lower resolution of 640 x 480. The image ratio on the Olympus D-490 Zoom is 4:3, making a total of 1.9 mega pixels. The sensor of the D-490 Zoom is a CCD measuring only 1/2.7 " using a RGB color filter.
Olympus included a digital zoom on the D-490 Zoom with an internal flash being a standard in nowadays cameras . The normal focus range between the camera lens and the object is 80 cm. The minimum shutter speed on the D-490 Zoom is 1/2 seconds and the maximum shutter is 1/1000 seconds. Movies are supported in this model which is always a useful function. The Olympus D-490 Zoom has an internal memory of 8 mb extendable by using SmartMedia. The LCD screen available on the D-490 Zoom is measuring 1.8 ".
